About the Tribunals
The Tribunal Service is a department of the Court Services of the Judicial Greffe established to hear certain types of claims and appeals under various laws.
It must act independently without giving any legal advice.
It is a free service (except for Planning appeals) and parties are not required to be represented by a lawyer.
The Tribunal administers the following claims and appeals: Employment and Discrimination, Social Security, Health and Safety, Mental Health and Capacity, Planning, Charity and Tax.
Hearings are open to the public, except for the Tax Tribunal and the Mental Health Review Tribunal.
Judgments for the Employment and Discrimination Tribunal, Social Security Tribunal and Tax Tribunal are posted on the Jersey Legal Information Board Website. Ministerial decisions for the Planning Tribunal are published on the planning register.
The Tribunal cannot award legal costs.
