IP Registry move to JFSC
With effect from 1st August, 2026, the Intellectual Property Registries will no longer be managed by the Judicial Greffe. The new Primary Intellectual Property Registries will now be located at the Jersey Financial Services Commission. The lower family court deals with private family issues such as divorce applications, civil partnership dissolution applications, children applications and adoption applications.
The Magistrate’s Court is the first court of the criminal justice system in Jersey, it deals with criminal proceedings against people who are 18 or older. A person younger than 18 is dealt with in the Youth Court.
The Protection Division deals with the registration of lasting powers of attorney and the appointment of delegates and tuteurs, who make decisions on behalf of individuals who lack capacity to make decisions themselves and children who have come into an inheritance.
The Tribunal Service is a department of the Court Services of the Judicial Greffe established to hear certain types of claims and appeals under various laws.
The Viscount's Department is responsible for executing orders made by the Royal Court of Jersey, as well as certain other activities set out in statute.
